Lisa Ostapinski: Encaustic Facts Sheet | ||||||||||||
I am interested in the cycles, patterns, and forms that make up natural systems. The geometric shapes present in the structures of cells; in our bodies, in plants, and animals, can be found everywhere.

Encaustic is the name for both a medium, pigmented wax, and the process, involving heat, by which the medium is applied and secured. Encaustic medium is beeswax in which a small amount of damar resin has been added for strength. The usual ratio is one part damar to eight or nine parts wax.
